Director, Business Development

Seeking an individual who will be responsible for leading strategic business development initiatives for future innovation and growth.

Summary of Job

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for leading strategic business development initiatives with guidance from the President.  This individual will oversee the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities that fit within the overall business plan to further drive future innovation and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Propose new external opportunities that fit with the company’s overall growth strategy and work with the senior leadership team to perform assessments, and lead potential new business and structured transactions.
  • Propose strategic framework to analyze the company’s existing business as well as new market opportunities (new clients, partner, acquire, build).
  • Support efforts with negotiation teams and closing deals with guidance from the President.
  • Identify and articulate business development opportunities including the presentation of company summaries, scientific, commercial, and financial value drivers to senior leadership team.
  • Plans, organizes, and provides market intelligence, communications, processes, and leadership. to achieve operational, tactical, and business development objectives.
  • Design and maintain a business development dashboard for the senior management team.

Job Requirements and Education

Education

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Life Sciences or related field. MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

Experience, Other Skills, and Abilities:

  • 10 years’ experience of pharmaceutical, biotech or life sciences related field.
  • Demonstrated track-record of success as a senior management level Business Development professional.
  • Knowledge of deal structures and ability to review and understand financial statements and valuation analysis is critical.
  • Strong understanding of the drug development process.
  • Proven ability to influence internal, as well as external constituencies.
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with the senior leadership team.
  • Confidence, tenacity, and executive presence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

ADA Notations

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms.
  • Regular communication (hearing/speaking).
  • Approximately 30%-50% travel is required; overnight travel required as needed.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Routine home and onsite office duties including computer keyboard use.
  • Vision requirements include close vision and ability to focus.
  • Noise conditions range from quiet to moderate – home office conditions variable.
