Information Technology Intern
We are looking for a motivated IT & Cloud Automation Intern to join our team for the summer. The position will be 40 hours per week for 8-12 weeks. This internship is based in Plainfield, Illinois and will require on-site/in person meetings to 2 days/week.

RegDev is a specialized biotech consulting firm relying on a secure, modern, and cloud-first technology stack. We are looking for a motivated IT & Cloud Automation Intern to join our team for the summer. The position will be 40 hours per week for 8-12 weeks during Summer 2026. This internship is based in Plainfield, Illinois and will require on-site/in person meetings to 2 days/week.
Working directly with and receiving mentorship from our Manager, Information Technology, you will get hands-on experience managing a production Microsoft 365 environment and building the custom automation tools that keep our company running smoothly. This is a hands-on technical role where you will use agentic AI to write code, manage cloud infrastructure, and solve real business problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- User Assistance: Assist with providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for internal users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Assist with the user lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and provisioning accounts via Entra ID.
- Endpoint Management: Deploy, configure, and manage physical endpoints and peripherals, utilizing tools like Microsoft Intune. Monitor system alerts and assist with routine endpoint patching and update compliance. Perform regular hardware inventory and asset management tasks.
- Security & Compliance: Assist in auditing user access, managing permissions, and troubleshooting device management conflicts.
- Scripting & Automation: Assist in developing and maintaining custom internal tools using Python and PowerShell, such as our active Microsoft 365 audit tools.
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Participate in testing, reviewing, and documenting disaster recovery and business continuity plans to support organizational resilience and data protection.
- IT Documentation: Draft, update, and maintain comprehensive IT policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), including acceptable use policies, ensuring our internal knowledge base remains accurate.
- Special Projects & Mentorship: Collaborate on rolling out infrastructure upgrades and exploring new ways to utilize SharePoint Framework (SPFx) for internal services. Shadow senior IT staff to learn advanced troubleshooting, cloud architecture methodologies, and enterprise security practices.
Job Requirements and Education
Education:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Rising Junior status preferred).
Experience:
- Programming Skills: Basic familiarity with Python, PowerShell, or TypeScript. Prior experience with these languages is a major plus, but a strong willingness to learn is the most important requirement. We are fully prepared to teach the right candidate.
- Tech Interests: A broad curiosity across all core areas of IT, including systems administration, networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, automation, and endpoint management.
- Forward-Thinking: An active interest in using generative AI tools to write code, troubleshoot issues, and improve workflow efficiency.
- Problem Solving: Ability to take a technical problem, research potential solutions, and explain your findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-Motivated & Autonomous: Given the primarily remote nature of this position, the ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who can manage their time effectively, work independently, and consistently communicate progress with the team. Strong mentorship will be provided.
