What Sets RegDev Apart: A Conversation on Educational Partnership
Featuring Sid Senroy, President and Founder of RegDev and Chelsea Senroy, VP of Business
At RegDev, one thing clients notice right away is our educational approach. It’s a key part of what makes our consulting model different. I sat down with Sid Senroy, founder of RegDev, to talk about why this model works and how it’s shaped the way we engage with clients.
Why an Educational Approach?
Chelsea: We often hear from our clients that they feel they come out of engagements having gained more knowledge and confidence. And I know that we are very intentional about setting our clients up for success for future projects. Why did you decide to take an educational approach to client service?
Sid: Well, I think it’s because of my background as a teacher. That’s where I started my career. I think people are more receptive when they’re being guided rather than just told what to do without context. I want to create more of a learning experience, a collaborative partnership experience. Going back to my teaching days, I feel this is an educational process. If you partner with people, guide them, and stand beside them, they’re more open. It’s just a better experience for everyone involved.
Chelsea: Do you find that clients are more successful because you teach them?
Sid: Absolutely. Our approach is so different from most of our competitors. It’s refreshing for clients because instead of just being told what to do, we invite them into the process.
What Does an “Educational Approach” Look Like in Practice?
Chelsea: Can you walk us through what that educational process looks like? Is it just about explaining what tasks a client needs to complete, or do you explain why they need to do various tasks?
Sid: First, we really want to understand our client and their issue. Every situation and client is different, it’s not one-size-fits-all. We don’t just tell them what they want to hear. We explain pros and cons, the trade-offs and the constraints. We really try to understand their pain points, as well as their resources and infrastructure — and we customize a solution tailored specifically to what they need (versus just to “standard”).
Chelsea: Are clients involved in the solution creation?
Sid: Yes, in the majority of cases. We want their buy in from the get-go. That’s something our clients appreciate because we build the solution with them. We’re not just handing them a deliverable and walking away. We work with them as true partners.
The Long-Term Value of Partnership
Chelsea: We’ve had clients who move on to other projects or new companies, and they bring us along with them. Do you think the educational element plays a role in that? For example, if you’ve worked on an earlier project together, they are more knowledgeable about what services they might need?
Sid: Definitely. We are proud of the level of referral-based business we receive. People bring us along or refer us to colleagues because of the positive experience they’ve had with us. Even without a formal BD or sales team, we’ve worked with over 270 clients since RegDev started, and it’s all been through word of mouth. That says a lot about the kind of relationships we build.
Relationships That Go Beyond Contracts
Chelsea: Is there anything else you want to touch upon about our approach that we haven’t mentioned?
Sid: I think we’ve been very fortunate in that we’ve built these long-standing relationships and some of our clients are like friends now. We’ve really made a point of building mutual trust and respect, both professionally and personally.
The other thing is that if a client ever reaches out with a problem, whether we have a contract or not, we will respond and not worry about a contract. We do a lot of pro-bono work over the years. Some might say that’s not smart from a business standpoint, but I believe it pays dividends in the long run.
We’re not flashy. Some people might disagree with this approach, but it’s how we deliver services and build relationships. We want to foster healthy client relationships where they can trust me and the team and that we’re not always looking at the clock and invoicing. We do exceptional work but that low-key, trust-first model has been the key to our success.
Final Thoughts
At RegDev, we believe that partnership starts with trust. That trust is built through shared understanding, transparency, and collaboration. Our educational approach isn’t just a method. It’s a mindset that has shaped who we are as a company, and why our clients keep coming back.
